Application of Y-chromosomal Strs to Parentage Testing

چکیده
Abstract Population studies were carried out on the Y-specific short-tandem-repeat (STR) polymorphisms DYS19, DYS385 I+II, DYS389 I+II, DYS390, DYS391, DYS392, and DYS393 in population samples from North India, Turkey and West Germany. In the German population, a highly unusual haplotype was observed. Sequence analysis revealed, that the variant allele DYS392*11.1 was caused by an insertion of an A (adenine). A Turkish haplotype showed 2 alleles (*15 and *16) at locus DYS19. A father and son pair shows a full haplotype with the Y-STRs tested but reveals only the X-allele when tested for the amelogenin locus.

Combining autosomal and Y-chromosomal short tandem repeat data in paternity testing with male child: methods and application.
Paternity testing is being increasingly requested with the aim of challenging presumptive fatherhood. The ability to establish the biological father is usually based on the genotyping of autosomal short tandem repeat (STR) in alleged father, mother and child, but the use of Y-chromosomal STR has gained interest in the last few years. In this work, we propose a new probabilistic approach that co...
متن کاملA Comparative Study on Presumption of Marriage Rule and Genetic Testing for Proving Parentage Under Iranian Law
Family is the most important social group, and the survival of society depends on the survival of the family and its survival depends on legitimate parentage and legal ties. Therefore, the issue of proving the parentage is one of the most sensitive issues in the Islamic law and the legislator has tried to preserve it by enacting laws. From the beginning of Islam until now, in Imami jurisprudenc...
متن کاملApplication of Molecular DNA Markers (STRs) in Molecular Diagnosis of Down Syndrome in Iran
Down syndrome is one of the most common causes of mental retardation observed in approximately 1/700 live birth. The use of two or more STR markers related to chromosome 21 facilitates the diagnosis of Down syndrome within about six hours from the collection of the samples. This is the first study has been performed in Iranian population to assess the diagnostic value of using small tandem repe...
متن کاملConstruction and validation of parentage testing for thoroughbred horses by 53 single nucleotide polymorphisms.
We characterized the SNP 53 JPN System for parentage verification during horse registry. The SNP 53 JPN System was constructed using 53 highly polymorphic single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), which were amplified and genotyped with 2 multiplex assays. The SNP 53 JPN System showed good resolution for 95 unrelated thoroughbreds, and the exclusion probability (PE01) for each SNP ranged from 11....
متن کاملMutation Rates and Discriminating Power for 13 Rapidly-Mutating Y-STRs between Related and Unrelated Individuals
Rapidly Mutating Y-STRs (RM Y-STRs) were recently introduced in forensics in order to increase the differentiation of Y-chromosomal profiles even in case of close relatives. We estimate RM Y-STRs mutation rates and their power to discriminate between related individuals by using samples extracted from a wide set of paternal pedigrees and by comparing RM Y-STRs results with those obtained from t...
